Rookwood Cemetery has presented numerous unique challenges to the construction of their new roads and drainage. As part of Triaxial’s design, we have incorporated innovative use of geo-grid to minimise road profile depths to a minimum, this leads to cheaper disposal costs of spoil off site and also minimises the potential damage to adjacent monuments.
As part of our involvement with cemeteries, Triaxial Consulting has been involved with a number of different aspects of cemetery operations and their environmental impact and sustainability. Listed below is a brief summary of some of these projects. Modern burial systems.
Rookwood Cemetery, located near the Sydney suburb of Lidcombe, is the largest cemetery in the Southern Hemisphere. Whilst embracing the rich heritage and historical significance of Rookwood, the capital works program will provide much- needed new roads and infrastructure to the cemetery, established in 1860.
Providing a short to medium term solution to the demand on Sydney burial sites, the development of Lot 10 will provide an additional 6700 spaces at Rookwood Cemetery
